Submission Disclaimer

By submitting a pitch to Salem Mania, the writer confirms the following:

The work is original. The submitted piece is the writer's own original work and has not been substantially copied from any other source.

The work is unpublished. The submitted piece has not been previously published in substantially the same form in any other publication, website, or platform. Prior publication on a personal blog or social media should be disclosed at the time of submission.

The writer holds the rights. The writer owns the copyright to the submitted work and has not transferred or exclusively licensed it to another party in a way that would prevent publication on Salem Mania.

The work does not infringe on third-party rights. The submitted piece does not reproduce copyrighted material without appropriate authorization, does not defame any individual or entity, and does not violate any applicable law.

Salem Mania is not liable for any claims arising from a writer's failure to meet these conditions. Responsibility for the accuracy and legality of submitted work rests entirely with the writer.

03

Editorial Process & Decisions

Every pitch submitted to Salem Mania is read and reviewed by the editorial network through the Standard Democratic Peer Review Process. No single editor holds final authority. The network votes. The majority decides.

Accepted writers may receive editorial notes before publication. The writer retains the right to decline editorial changes, though Salem Mania retains the right to decline publication if the writer and editorial team cannot reach agreement on revisions.

Salem Mania submissions are open seasonally. This season's cap is fifteen articles. Meaning only fifteen or fewer articles will be selected, reviewed, and published on the Salem Mania website this season.

All decisions are final.

§
04

Credit & Attribution

Every piece published on Salem Mania is credited by the writer's name as provided at the time of submission. Salem Mania does not publish work anonymously unless specifically agreed in writing prior to publication.

Published pieces are permanently credited on the Salem Mania website. The writer's name, the piece title, the section, and the date of publication are maintained as part of the publication's permanent record.

If a writer wishes to update their credit — for example due to a name change — they may contact Salem Mania at salemmania.blog@gmail.com and the credit will be updated within a reasonable time.

05

Republication & Future Use

Writers published on Salem Mania are free to republish their work elsewhere at any time. Salem Mania asks only that the original publication on Salem Mania be credited in any subsequent republication — for example by noting "First published in Salem Mania, [date]."

This credit requirement is a courtesy, not a legal obligation. The writer's copyright is unaffected and the writer is under no contractual restriction on how they use their own work after publication.

06

Removal of Published Work

Writers may request removal of their published work from Salem Mania at any time by contacting salemmania.blog@gmail.com. Salem Mania will process removal requests within a reasonable period. Upon removal the piece will no longer be publicly accessible, though archival references to the piece's existence in the publication's record may be retained.

Salem Mania may also remove published work at its discretion if the editorial team determines the piece violates these terms or if circumstances arise that make continued publication inappropriate. The writer will be informed of any such removal.

07

No Commercial Use by Salem Mania

Salem Mania is a non-profit independent publication. It does not generate revenue from advertising, subscriptions, or the sale of content. Salem Mania will not use any published work for commercial purposes, will not license published work to third parties, and will not sell or transfer any rights in published work to any other entity.

This commitment reflects the foundational values of Salem Mania. The publication exists to publish writing that is worth reading and to support the writers who produce it — not to profit from their work.

08

Privacy & Submission Data

Information submitted through the Salem Mania pitch form — including name, email address, and the pitch itself — is used solely for the purpose of reviewing and responding to the submission. Salem Mania does not sell, share, or transfer submission data to any third party.

Salem Mania does not track website visitors, does not use advertising cookies, and does not use any analytics platform that collects personal data. The website is designed to respect the privacy of its readers and contributors.

Submission data is retained only as long as necessary for editorial correspondence. Writers may request deletion of their submission data at any time by contacting the Salem Mania team.

09

Changes to These Terms

Salem Mania may update these terms from time to time. Updated terms will be published on this page with a revised effective date. Writers who have previously submitted work are not retroactively bound by changes to these terms — the terms in effect at the time of submission govern the relationship for that piece.

Questions about these terms may be directed to salemmania.blog@gmail.com.
